International Legal & Historical Record
This collection documents ACRRA’s international legal, historical, and human-rights advocacy on behalf of the People of the United States Virgin Islands. Together, the materials examine the enduring consequences of slavery, colonialism, and the 1916–1917 transfer of the Danish West Indies to the United States, while advancing claims related to reparatory justice, political rights, self-determination, treaty participation, and access to effective legal remedies. ACRRA’s submission to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, for example, addresses Denmark’s historical responsibility for slavery and colonialism and proposes comprehensive reparatory measures.
